The Great Divide
Published in Hardcover by Columbia University Press (15 March, 2001)
Authors: Geoffrey C. Layman and Geoffrey Layman
Average review score:

An Excellent Analysis of Modern-Day American Politics
As we have seen in the recent election (2000), America is split in two: the secular, liberal coasts and urban centers and the religious, conservative "flyover" country and rural areas. Dr. Layman's book ably explains the origins and causes of this split in religious and cultural terms and its effects on the American politics of today and the future. If you want to understand the significant forces that have sliced the nation into two, "The Great Divide" is well worth buying and reading.

The Great Divide : a walk along the Continental Divide of the United States
Published in Unknown Binding by Phoenix House ()
Author: Stephen Pern
Average review score:

Excellent work, Pern is eloquent and brutally pure.
When reading Pern's prose on his adventure, I was taken away to the remote barren tundra high on the American spine. His eloquent style draws the reader into each and every triumph, while spilling imagery as brilliant as the mountains he traverses. I felt his pain, I felt his joy. This is a must read.

Great Divides: Understanding the Controversies That Come Between Christians
Published in Paperback by Navpress (January, 1993)
Author: Ronald H. Nash
Average review score:

The Controversy Over...
Ronald Nash, professor at Reformed Theological Seminary has written a great text for the average Protestant Christian. Whether one is a liberal, conservative, or moderate, Nash's book is worth the look. Nash has always been known as a conservative, but this is not to be confused with a fundamentalist. Some of Nash's positions, are just down right balanced and Bibilcal.

Often, the devil is found in the poloarizing extremes while the truth is often scewed by other's agendas. Nash tackels the hard issues of out current Christian and sociological mess. His dealings with issues such as divorce is careful and pastoral. His discussion of "Lordship Salvation" addresses the Protestant debate in proper catagories and aviods the "name calling" that so often accompies this issue. Lastly, his chapter on the "end-times" is much needed in today's speculative end-times by the headlines, that is so prevelant in Evangelical circles.

He writes on 10 topics in all. It is easy to read, yet very interesting and somewhat refreshing with pastoral and philosophical depth.

The Great Sex Divide: A Study of Male-Female Differences
Published in Paperback by Scott Townsend Pub (June, 1992)
Author: Glenn Daniel Wilson
Average review score:

Puts to rest a good deal of nonsense. Very interesting.
This book deals about the differences between males and females and why the two sexes think and behave in different ways. Wilson, from Darwinist evoloutionary theory, proves that the differences are ordained genetically because males and females have different roles to play in the reproduction of the human species. This fires the cannon through feminist theories that the sexes are the same. The sexes are not the same, but there is no issue of equality involved because the sexes have both strong and weak points in different areas.

Men are more agressive, prone to anger, more sexually adventurous, have better visuo-spatial skills and are slightly smarter. Women are more passive, conservative in thier sexual behavior, empathetic, caring and take a more subjective view of life. These, of course are generalizations, not the exceptions, as the author notes.

At the end of the book, it seems that men come off as smarter, more intellegent and in control than women. But the author is free to admit that women are morally superior to men, because it is the male drive towards crime and agression that is the fault of most social problems and wars. Feminism does have legitamite claims, but it is dead wrong by postulating that "society" forces males and females to act certain ways when these are dictated by simple biological function. Feminists should make thier case by appealing to senses of morals and honor towards females rather than making dictates based on faulty scientific theory.

The best fly fishing guide book ever
I used this book and its sister book for west of the continental divide extensively on my last trip to Montana. It now has a large coffee stain on it but I don't care. The information is exact and extensive. I own a couple of other books by Holt and would recommend any of them. Do not go to Montana on a fishing expidition without a couple of John Holt books in your possesion.

To Expand We Divide: The Practice and Principles of Bunsha Management (Icg Pocketbusiness Book)
Published in Hardcover by Intercultural Group (July, 1993)
Authors: Kuniyasu Sakai, David Russell, and Kunlyasu Sakai
Average review score:

A must read book for all merger minded Americans
Contrary to popular belief, especially with this stock market , Mr. Kuniyasu's simple concept gets to the very heart of the capitalist system and the Western form of economics. Americans who do not read this book and his other book "Bunsha", will pay a heavy price within the next 5-10 years. One only needs to look at the 1920-30's period for guidance.
